2021 Highlights

A quick look at an astounding year.

DJI RoboMaster University League 2021

Unable to compete in Shenzhen this year due to the pandemic, NUS RoboMaster participated in the online version of the DJI RoboMaster University League competition that took place from March to April 2021.

Despite not being able to compete, the team showed off their progress on all eight of their robots. After completing a progress report, the team then presented it to other universities and to DJI in a Zoom presentation.

Out of seven teams from all over the world, NUS Robomaster secured a commendable fourth-place finish in their first official DJI RoboMaster outting.

Kent Ridge Alumni Family Day 2021

The Kent Ridge Alumni Family Day is an annual event organised by NUS. This year, the team represented the Faculty of Engineering, wowing guests with their remote controlled RoboMaster S1 activity that allowed guests to gain control of the robots and even shoot them from the safety of their homes.

Held on Zoom this year, incoming Captain Liu Hongman also gave a presentation on behalf of the team!

NUS RoboMaster Internal Competition 2021

What do you do when you can’t go to the competition? You bring the competition to you.

This year, NUS RoboMaster sought out to create its very first Internal Competition. Two teams went head to head in an exciting competition, held in our very own arena on 25th September at TechnoEdge. Three robots of our original design went head to head against three robots created from opensource semantics by leading RoboMaster university teams - a true test of NUS RoboMaster’s progress thus far.

After six months of development, the competition was attended by Faculty of Engineering Dean, Prof Aaron Thean, as well as our kind supporters from Micron and the National Robotics Programme.

In the end, NUS RoboMaster’s original robots emerged victorious over the opensource robots in a 2-1 win. It is our hope that with our inaugural competition, other universities in Singapore will take interest in RoboMaster - we hope to see them in the ring!
